ADA Guidelines

While modular ramp systems installed at a private residence aren’t required to meet ADA specifications, it is important to follow the instruction manual and all guidelines to ensure a safe and useable wheelchair ramp.

  • Every 1” of vertical rise requires 1’ of ramp length
  • Handrails are required on ramps with a rise of 6” or more
  • Ramps should be a minimum of 36” wide
  • A level landing is necessary at the accessible door
  • Landings subject to wet conditions shall be designed to prevent the accumulation of water
